Most superannuation funds provide you with the ability to hold insurance cover within your super. Some super funds offer automatic insurance cover, without the need to go through an underwriting process, while others offer insurance through specialised life insurance providers.
The types of insurance cover available through super is usually limited to Death cover, Total and Permanent Disability cover and Income Protection / Salary Continuance cover. Premiums for insurance policies held within super are deducted from your superannuation member balance.
